Parent Responsibilities

What are my responsibilities as a parent in a co-op?

As members of a co-op, each family is responsible for some portion of the administrative duties required to operate and maintain the school. A well-run program requires coordination and dedication on the part of parents and teachers. As a parent, your responsibilities include:

Weekly:

  • 3 & 4 year old program parents work at the school one-day each week per child. On the workday for the 3’s class, the working parents must arrive 15 minutes before class begins and stay 30 minutes after class for parent / teacher discussions. On the workday for the 4’s class, the working parents must arrive 30 minutes before class begins at for parent / teacher discussions. (Please note that the working parent must be the child’s mother, father, or legal guardian.) Here is a link to samples of the 3’s class job cards and 4’s class job cards in PDF format. You will be assigned one of these job cards on your work day.
  • 2 year old and 2/3 combo program parents work at the school one-day each week. On the workday, the working parents do not need to arrive early nor do they need to stay after class ends. (Please note that the working parent must be the child's mother, father, or legal guardian.) Here is a link to samples of the 2’s class job cards in PDF format. You will be assigned one of these job cards on your work day.
  • On a rotating basis perform a cooking project during the class.
  • Perform committee position duties (you can review most of them here and sign up for these at the Open House). (Some jobs are performed weekly and others are performed on an as needed basis.)
